IT Budget Review

Businesses are typically judged by results in the bottom line. IT budgets can be sizeable even for a medium sized organisation, typically ranging from 1% to 30% of turnover depending on the business. Is your current budget sensible, affordable and appropriate for your business?

Does your IT budget need to be reviewed?

The pace of technology change seems to increase every year. Often the way things were done in the past are quickly outdated and become costly to maintain. Do you understand what value for money looks like in IT? Have your IT costs been growing year on year? Do you know if you have an appropriate level of resilience and redundancy for your IT systems? Do you understand the assumptions that have been made in your budget? Does the IT budget fit the overall business plan?

What we do?

After looking at your business requirements for IT, we carry out a two-phase approach to budget review. Bottom up - looking at existing costs, technology choices and proposed IT projects.  Top down - reviewing overall budget targets and how they impact the business as a whole. This is more than just an exercise in minimising IT spend, we also look for which projects are achievable and what impact they might have to reduce recurring costs or to provide additional revenue opportunities if they support new products and services. What we deliver is a critical review of your existing IT budget, highlighting strengths and any issues. We will also suggest changes where appropriate, or if required we can develop a budget from scratch where no budget exists.

is often cost effective to combine a budget review with a Purchasing Review to make sure that all existing costs have been minimised and that contractors and suppliers are being well managed.
